You will bike along the magnificent Pacific Coast of Southern California and through the majestic, rugged beauty of the Anza-Borrego desert. In the desert, you will stay at La Casa del Zorro, a lovely desert hideaway with activities of all kinds.
*On this trip, you will have the opportunity to:
- Bike along the Ocean shore near San Diego and La Jolla;
- Bike on quiet roads from the mountain, gold rush town of Julian down miles to the desert floor and on to our resort in Borraego Springs;
- Explore by bike the ever-changing beauty of the Anza-Borrego Desert;
- Pedal from our resort to the Salton Sea at altitude zero;
- Take an overland tour by jeep to discover the desert not accessible by road;
- Hang out in the award-winning, luxurious, desert resort of La Cass del Zorro where there are opportunities to hike, swim, play golf, tennis or archery.
*Weather: The average high in San Diego in February is 66º and the low 52º, and in Borrego Springs 73º and 47º.
*Terrain: Much of this trip is downhill or flat, but there are two days where there are intermittent hills.
*Distances and Difficulty: The daily routes will be 20-35 miles, but there will always be options for shorter and longer rides. The first two days in the desert are mainly downhill. There are hills on some sections of the trip. However, much of this trip is relatively easy. It is suitable for intermediate level bikers and can be challenging enough for advanced bikers.
