Experience a voyage of discover from the tip of South Africa to the Northern plains of game-rich Botswana.
Arrive in Cape Town where you will be met by an Orient-Express Safaris representative for your private transfer to the city's famous Mount Nelson Hotel, for 5 nights in a Superior Room. The Mount Nelson Hotel is located at the foot of Table Mountain offering easy access to the city, spectacular beaches and a wide selection of top restaurants. The area offers magnificent scenery at every turn with Government Avenue and its array of museums and art galleries on the hotel's doorstep. The area can either be explored by private, escorted sightseeing tours or at your own pace with a rental car.
A full day, privately guided tour of the Cape Point is included in your stay. You will travel along the Atlantic seaboard passing the Twelve Apostles range and the sea front suburbs of Camps Bay and Hout Bay en route to the Cape Point Nature Reserve. Cape Point is the most South Westerly point of Africa. After lunch you head back towards Cape Town via the quaint naval town of Simonstown and the Penguin Colony at Boulders beach. This area is home to one of the three African Penguin colonies inhabiting the mainland. Continue on through the lovely suburb of Constantia to the world famous Kirstenbosch Gardens. Return to your hotel late afternoon.
Also included in your stay, is a fully guided tour of the beautiful Cape Winelands. South Africa is the world’s 8th largest wine producer and has about 100 000 ha under vine concentrated in the Western Cape. Whether it is its magnificent natural beauty, its rich cultural heritage or its world-renowned wines, the Winelands Region is synonymous with all the best that the Cape has to offer. Enjoy wine tastings and lunch in the beautiful surroundings of the wine estates.
A 45-minute drive from Cape Town brings you to this area where splendid mountains form a dramatic backdrop to lush vineyards and gabled Cape Dutch homesteads steeped in history. You will also visit one of more of the historical towns of Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek before returning to the hotel late afternoon.
On your final morning in Cape Town, you will be transferred to Cape Town International Airport for your connecting flight to Johannesburg and onward to Maun for a shared light aircraft flight to the Savute region of the Chobe National Park in Botswana, an area renowned for its high concentration of Elephant. During your two night stay at the Savute Elephant Camp you will see amazing sightings of lion, under the skilled direction of an expert guide. You will also have the luxury of watching elephants drink from the waterhole while sitting on the deck of your tent, enjoying your favourite drink.
After brunch, the following morning, depart for Khwai River Lodge, situated adjacent to the Moremi National Park. Witness the daily procession of big game that roams the Khwai floodplains, in front of the camp. Daily activities at Khwai include day and night game drives in open-sided 4X4 vehicles and walking safaris along the river. Other facilities to make your stay as comfortable as possible include a large swimming pool, Naturally Wild spa treatments and a small, discreet gymnasium. During your 2 night stay, you can also enjoy a full day boat excursions to Xaxanaka Lagoon and Island with a picnic lunch.
On your last morning, continue on a short flight to the renowned Okavango Delta and Eagle Island Camp. Enjoy two nights at the camp among the prolific birdlife of the island and surrounding Delta. Spend time exploring the local islands by mokoro traditional canoe (water levels permitting) and on foot, for an unforgettable safari experience. During your stay at Eagle Island, you will also be treated to a spectacular scenic helicopter flight over the Okavango Delta.
