Namibia is Africa, with its friendly, natural people, with endless thorn savannah, Mopane bushland, Makalani palms and Baobabs, with lions and elephants, zebras and giraffes, an animal world as rich in species as no other on Earth. It is being protected in the huge Etosha National Park and many other game and nature reserves.
The Caprivi Strip is the wettest region in Namibia with its high rainfall and a number of major rivers like the Okavango, Kwando and Zambezi, also some smaller rivers like the Linyanti and the Chobe. The abundance of water in the Caprivi sustains a large variety of animal and bird species. Especially numerous are the elephants, though not easily spotted through the dense vegetation. The wildlife is being protected in a couple of reserves (Bwabwata, Mudumu, Lizauli, Mamili). There are no fences, so the animals can roam freely across the borders of the neighboring countries of Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
The Chobe National Park in Botswana, bordering the Caprivi in the south, is especially excellent for game viewing. And finally a visit to the Victoria Waterfalls in Zimbabwe is a spectacular option. With the mighty Zambesi River roaring over a two kilometers width to eventually plunge 120 meters, Victoria Falls are the biggest waterfalls in Africa.
