Education Program
More than 80% of the children from Nepal's villages are unable to access a good educational system. This is due to the remote mountain geography and the inability of the country to fund the needs. Motivated teachers are often made to teach without basic school supplies in schools that are in poor condition. Due to these hearth-wrenching conditions, HOPE & HOME: Volunteer Program has initiated an effort to improve these conditions by providing basic necessities and facility improvements. To do this, we need the donation of books and stationeries.
HOPE & HOME: Volunteer Program is one of few organizations that targets its activities towards a specific school and strives to bring that school up to basic educational levels. Your contribution will be targeted to one school and you will be able to track the progress of your school and its students. HOPE & HOME: Volunteer Program encourages you to visit your sponsored school through its special travel programs.
Another element of this program is 'training of trainer.' Whenever possible, volunteers are encouraged to provide training to local teachers to enable them to continue computer lessons when volunteers are not present.
Most of our schools welcome volunteers who want to get involved in other aspects of school life, or run extra-curricular activities and after-school clubs. Alongside your conversational English classes you could help with Sports. You can teach football, cricket and volleyball. Everyone enjoys having a volunteer who is keen to teach English in the morning then get involved with arranging sports in the afternoon.
HOPE & HOME: Volunteer Program focusing on school groups, university students, adult groups and professional organizations to create and run custom programs for cultural visits, service projects, volunteer works and internship works in Himalayan kingdom of Nepal. It develop especially inventive itineraries in collaboration with groups to meet the needs, goals and interests of those groups.
With our extensive local network, experienced staff and comprehensive information about all aspects of Nepal, Our staffs are able to develop extraordinary opportunities in any corner of Nepal. Our group program is equal in quality to other international groups working in Nepal while our fee is unbelievably cheaper (50- 75%), as we use local manpower and resources to run and develop our program.
First Phase
Hope and Home runs the first phase of the program at Kathmandu. It covers language and cultural classes, visits to important places in Kathmandu, hiking and visits to surrounding areas of Kathmandu Valley. It also includes meeting and lecture from experts living in Kathmandu. HOPE & HOME organizes guided city tours of Kathmandu.
Second Phase
After general orientation in the first phase, students leave for village/home stay. In the beginning of the second phase, students practice language and experience village life, go for village visits and hike. Hope and Home organizes cultural programs, white water rafting, Jungle safaris, and Tharu and ethnic village visits in this phase.
After completing all these activities, groups or individual go for either service projects or join the volunteer program according to their own interests. Volunteers stay with host families or groups according to the interests of the group. Exploration and visit to villages and nearby areas of attraction continue in free time.
Last Phase
Nepal is famous for the amazing Himalayas. In the last phase of the program volunteers will leave for Pokhara, a beautiful valley of Nepal. Volunteer will go trekking in the Annapuruna trekking trail, one of the most beautiful trekking routes in the world. Volunteers will pass village after village enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Himalayas. Length of trekking depends on the interest of the people. Trekking, Rafting and Safari cost does not includes in our program fees.
