Travel to Western Canada: Vancouver, Victoria, Whistler, Jasper, Banff and Calgary. You’ll also visit lesser known, but equally beautiful locales: Gold Bridge, Blue River and the Cariboo Mountains.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive Vancouver
Arrive in Vancouver - Upon arrival, either pick up your rental car at the airport or transfer independently to your downtown hotel. Your Exclusive Documentation Package will be waiting for you at the front desk when you check in.
Day 2: Vancouver Exploring
Vancouver Exploring – Stanley Park, a vibrant downtown and dozens of attractions to choose from. Spend the day exploring Canada’s West Coast Gem. Included is admission to the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Lookout Tower.
Day 3: Vancouver to Victoria
Vancouver to Victoria – You will travel by car and ferry to Victoria, winding through beautiful Active Pass. Enroute, you may wish to visit the beautiful Butchart Gardens.
Day 4: Victoria Exploring
Victoria Exploring – Take the day to explore Victoria. Admission to the Royal B.C. Museum is included. A whale-watching excursion by Zodiac or hard-hull boat is an option.
Da 5: Victoria to Whistler
Victoria to Whistler – Travel north on the Malahatt Highway to Nanaimo, making sure you stop in the artisan community of Chemainus to view the murals painted on buildings throughout town. Also stop in Duncan and visit the informative and popular Native Heritage Centre. When you reach Nanaimo, you will board a ferry for approximately 2 hours and once back on the Mainland you will travel along the scenic Sea to Sky Highway to Whistler.
Day 6: Whistler to Gold Bridge
Whistler to Gold Bridge – Drive for about two hours to the north along the scenic Duffy Lake Road to the town of Lillooet. Enroute, you will see pristine alpine lakes and glaciers. Upon arrival at Lillooet, drive a further two hours west along a well-maintained gravel road into the Coastal Mountains to the Tyax Mountain Lake Resort. This comfortable wilderness retreat is located on the shores of Tyaughton Lake. Spend the rest of the day enjoying this beautiful locale.
Day 7: Gold Bridge Exploring
Gold Bridge Exploring – Relax all day. Optional activities include horseback riding, canoeing, mountain biking, fishing, and sightseeing by floatplane (see optional activities package).
Day 8: Gold Bridge to Blue River
Gold Bridge to Blue River – Travel north through Caribou Country before heading east the Thompson-Okanagan region. Near Clearwater, you enter Wells Gray Provincial Park, where you can visit Helmcken Falls. Then continue your drive north to Blue River. You will stay overnight in a log chalet at Mike Wiegele’s Resort (June 2 – October 8 only, outside of these dates, accommodation is in Clearwater).
Day 9: Blue River to Jasper
Blue River to Jasper – Drive alongside the Thompson River through farmlands. The Caribou Mountains rise up in the distance. From Tete Jaune Cache you will travel east past Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies (3,954m), and shortly after, enter Jasper National Park.
Day 10: Jasper Exploring
Jasper Exploring – Enjoy Jasper and environs. Optional activities include hiking, trail riding, mountain biking, swimming, canoeing, rafting, or a boat cruise on Maligne Lake.
Day 11: Jasper to Banff
Jasper to Banff – This is one of the most scenic drives in the world, along the Icefields Parkway through the heart of the Canadian Rockies. You’ll see the Athabasca and Sunwapta Falls, Athabasca Glacier (a snowcoach excursion on the Columbia Icefields is optional), Bow Lake, Peyto Lake, and the Crowfoot Glacier. Again, keep watch for wildlife!
Day 12: Banff Exploring
Banff Exploring – A ride up Sulphur Mountain Gondola is included, offering stunning views of the Canadian Rockies. The rest of your options for the day are many; hiking, trail riding, golfing, shopping.
Day 13: Tour ends in Calgary
Banff to Calgary – The two-hour drive to Calgary takes you from towering mountains through rolling foothills to flat prairie. Drop off your car at the Calgary International Airport. Tour Ends.
