This wonderful overland driving trip takes you to places in the Northern and Central Mongolia: the Asian Blue Pearl - Lake Huvsgul, the stunning Khorgo-Terkh National Park, the legendary capital city Karakorum, Khogno Khaan & Hustai National Parks and amazing Gun-Galuut Nature Reserve.
Lake Huvsgul, the second largest freshwater lake in the world after Lake Baikal in Buryatia, is popular for its pure water, awesome Alpine-like landscapes, wonderful wildlife and the different ethnic people living around it. Lake Huvsgul region is a destination in itself and an entire tour could be devoted to this specific part of Mongolia.
Khorgo-Terkh National Park is one of the most beautiful national parks in Mongolia with its crystal clear Terkh Lake and the Khorgo Volcano. The nature beauty is awesome here and is a great place for hiking, horse riding and relaxing. You can visit the Hell of Yellow Dog, Ice Hole and the Youth Cave that are pretty impressive!
In 1220 great Chinghis Khaan declared the city of Karakorum as the capital city of his vast Empire. Today there are many interesting sites left to visit; the legendary turtle rock sculptures, Buddhist stupas and the ruins of this once great city to name a few. Erdenezuu was the first Buddhist monastery in the Mongolian Empire. It was established in 1586. The monastery has a massive square wall, 420 meters in length each side, a total of 108 Stupas and 17 temples. Today Erdenezuu monastery still shows its glory with collections of many priceless religious objects and incredibly beautiful Mongolian arts.
Hustai National Park is the place where the wild Takhi- Przewalski horses have lived peacefully since 1993 when they were reintroduced to their native land Mongolia. Here we can view and photograph these beautiful wild horses at pasture and Red Deer, Wolf, Asian Marmot, various species of waterfawls & prey birds.
Gun-Galuut Nature Reserve a breathtaking place full of globally endangered wildlife including Wild Mountain sheep Argali, White Naped Cranes, Hooded Cranes, Siberian White Cranes, Whooper Swans and more bird species like Black Storks, Swan Geese and many more. The little oasis in the steppes, Gun-Galuut is a place for nature lovers and soft adventurers! Arrival in Ulaanbaatar, meet your tour guide & transfer to hotel, rest. Visit the Museum of Natural History, and the Museum of National History & the Sukhbaatar Square. Dinner, hotel overnight.

Pack the vehicles & depart to the north toward Lake Huvsgul, via Bulgan. Enjoy the wilderness and nature beauty. Tourist ger camp overnights.

Day 4-6:
Arrive and transfer to tourist ger camp by Lake Huvsgul. Visit the Tsaatan people, an ethnic minority of Mongolia. Hiking in mountains, along the lake shore. Meet Darkhad people-an ethnic minority of Mongolia. You also can go kayaking or horse riding. Full board and overnight at the tourist ger camp.

Day 7-8:
Drive to the stunning Khorgo-Terkh National Park via Jargalant village by the river Ider. Arrive at the Khorgo-Terkh National Park, transfer to ger camp by Khorgo Volcanic Mountain. Full board and overnight at the tourist ger camp.

Day 9:
Rest day in the Khorgo-Terkh. Hike to the Khorgo Volcano and visit the beautiful Lake Terkh, Ice Hole, Hell of the Yellow Dog etc interesting sites. Full board and overnight at the tourist ger camp.

Day 10-11:
Drive to Karakorum, via 100 Branched tree, the River Chuluut canyon, Taikhar Rock & Tsetserleg town. Arrive in Karakorum. Visit legendary monastery Erdene Zuu, ruins of Tumen Amgalant palace, the Phallic stone etc. Visit the Turkic Tombs in the Orkhon River Valley from the 8 Century. Full board and overnight at the tourist ger camp.

Day 12-13:
We visit the Khogno Khaan & Hustai National Parks, view the wonderful Takhi wild horses. Drive to Gun-Galuut Nature Reserve. Admire the White Crane, Whooper Swan, Swan Goose and many other bird species and the Argali mountain sheep in Gun-Galuut. Full board and overnight at the tourist ger camp.

Day 14:
Drive back to Ulaanbaatar, transfer to hotel. Visit the Gandan Monastery, Palace Museum of Bogd Khaan, Buddha International Park and the Zaisan memorial. Traditional folk concert. Dinner at a Mongolian restaurant for the finest Mongolian food. Hotel.
