Your Itinerary
Day 1- July 5 / THURSDAY / ULAANBAATAR (UB)
If you will arrive in Mongolia by Air China, or by Mongolian Airlines (MIAT) or by Aeroflot. Upon arrival in Ulaan Baatar, you will be met at the airport by Samar Magic Tours's representative and are transferred to our hotel , in the heart of the city!. Lunch in hotel. In the afternoon, visits the Mongolia Main Square, the New monument of "Chinggis" Khan, the National History Museum where you will see artefacts from Mongolia from the Stone Age to the present, and displays of the development of Mongolian arts and culture. Evening National Performers (concert which includes the Tsam dance, traditional Mongolian singers, dancers, Tuvan throat singing and contortionists). Have welcome dinner at local restaurant featuring Mongolian and Western specialties. Overnight at hotel. (L)(D)
Day 2-July 6 / FRIDAY ULAANBAATAR(UB)-FLY TO GOBI DESERT-HONGORYN DUNES
This morning, transfer to UB airport to fly to the Gobi desert (approx. 1.5hour). You will be met at the Gobi local airport by Samar Magic Tours's staff and our cars (arrived here one day before from Ulaanbaatar). Drive directly to the largest sand dunes Hongoryn Els in Gobi desert. Check in the tourist base ger camp. Free time. An opportunity to photograph the stunning landscape. Night at the tourist ger base camp under the starry skies. (B)(L)(D).
Day 3-July 7 / SATURDAY HONGORYN DUNES-FLAMMING CLIFFSS IN GOBI DESERT
In the morning, visit the largest sand dunes Hongoryn Els. This morning, you will have the opportunity to ride Bactrian (two-humped) camels. One of the best ways to experience the Gobi is from the back of a camel. They are very easy to ride. In the afternoon, drive to the legendary "Flaming Cliffs"; named for its glowing orange rock that is rich with dinosaur fossils in Bayanzad (dinosaur excavation site) to explore the Gobi Dinosaur Cemetery and to follow the historic trail of paleontologist / explorer Dr. Roy Chapman Andrews. Overnight in traditional ger dwellings at the Tourist base camp.(B)(L)(D)
Day 4-July 8 / SUNDAY YOL VALLEY PROTECTED AREA IN GOBI DESERT
After breakfast, drive to "Yol Valley Protected Area in Gobi Gurvan Shaikhan National Park" for trekking and an opportunity to photograph the stunning landscape, the Gobi Glacier and the wildlife of the cradled in the foothills of the Altai Mountains. Enjoy a picnic lunch, and a hike through the valley before visiting the local natural history museum for an overview of the flora and fauna of the area. Overnight in tourist base ger camp. (B)(L)(D)
Day 5-July 9 / MONDAY FLY TO ULAANBAATAR-SACRED TUUL RIVER NOMA'DS VALLEY
Breakfast. Free time. Transfer to Gobi local airport for your afternoon flight to Ulaanbaatar. Arrive in UB and drive directly to the "Sacred Tuul river Nomad's Valley" -this is a beautiful valley of streams. There are national gers in beautiful natural locations, so it's easy to meet with locals and see their daily lives, interact with them. In route, to observe the Highest New Statue of "Chinggis" Khaan (with 40mts high-it is very close to "Chinggis" Tourist Camp , about 3kms only-the entrance fee is not included, payment on site!). Today, we will attend the Special show with some local children (from the 4 to 10 years old) on horseback. After, horseback riding exploration (included) along the Tuul River with a lot of wildflowers in the summer to meet the horse-breeder's family, through a steppe valley devoid of any communication and inhabited by numerous herdsmen with their livestock. Special dinner with traditional mongolian meal (khorkhog), which is mutton cooked with hot rock and with vegetables, water, potatoes, and onion. Overnight at our comfortable "Chinggis" tourist base camp. This Tourist Base Camp provides hot water, showers, western style toilets and restaurant. (B)(L)(D)
Day 6-July 10 / TUESDAY TERELJ NATIONAL PARK-ULAANBAATAR
After breakfast, drive to visit "Terelj" National Park - This valley is about 20km long at 1600m. This area is the magnificent of alpine forest, rocks formation, nomadic families. Visits the Tortoise rock, and the area. Return drive to Ulaan Baatar. Transfer to the hotel. Lunch in local restaurant "El Latino". Visit the Gandan Lamasery, the largest Monastery in Mongolia (80 foot tall statue of Buddha, practicing Tibetan Buddhist Lamas). Shop for souvenirs. Overnight at hotel. (B)(L)
Day 7-July 11 / WEDNESDAY NAADAM FESTIVAL
Today, attend the opening ceremony of the *Festival of Naadam in Ulaanbaatar national stadium. Taking place in the middle of July, the Festival of Naadam sees Mongolians from all over the country converge on the capital to participate in and watch these annual summer sports. See horse racing, wrestling and archery, the three age old national sports. Lunch at local restaurant "El Latino". Spend the day with your guide in Ulaanbaatar national stadium. Day 8-July 12 / THURSDAY NAADAM FESTIVAL
Full day to enjoy the impressive *Naadam Festival at the National Stadium. The Naadam Festival horse races are continuous over the two main Naadam days, and today we will try our luck early and find a site beyond the restricted zone outside of Ulaanbaatar, where a close up encounter is possible with some 700-1000 children on horseback. Lunch at local restaurant "El Latino". In the afternoon, visits the "Bogd Khan" Winter Palace, and the war memorial "Zaisan" Hill with a "New Buddha's" monument. Shop for souvenirs, original pure cashmere gifts and garment. Accommodation at hotel.(B)(L)
Day 9-July 13 /FRIDAY /FLY TO KHOVSGOL NTL PARK
This morning, transfer to UB airport to fly to Murun (approx. 1.5 hours) flight from Ulaanbaatar. Arrive in Murun local airport and drive to the tourist base gers camp by the lake. Lake Khovsgol is a 100 mile long pristine alpine lake located in the north of Mongolia, close to the Siberian border. This is the deepest Lake in Mongolia with 90 Rivers flow into it only one river goes out. The lake lies at an altitude of 1645m and is a rift valley some 262m deep. The Lake is a protected as a National Park and is sacred to Mongolians who call it "Dalai Ej" the "Mother Sea". There are hot showers and Sauna. We will enjoy the nature reserve around the lake while hiking around the lake. Optional activities: horse back riding or boat ride will be offered as activities. Overnight in tourist base gers camp.(B)(L)(D)
Days 10-11 / July 14-15 / SAT-SUNDAY KHOVSGOL LAKE NATIONAL PARK
Spend two days exploring and walking the lakeshore and surrounding mountains and meadows (not transport is included). You will have the opportunity to visit local nomads' dwellings and, for those interested, try optional Mongolian-style horseback riding, including a visit with a Tsaatan family who still live in tepees in the deep forest, raising reindeer. Admire the White crane, Whooper swan and the Hooded crane at the Lake Hovsgol National Park. Overnights in tourist base gers camp.(B)(L)(D)
Day 12-July 16 / MONDAY/ FLY BACK TO ULAANBAATAR
Breakfast. Return to Murun local airport for your afternoon late flight to Ulaanbaatar. Upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar, you will be met at the airport and transferred to the hotel. Free time at hotel. Overnight at hotel.(B)(L)
Day 13-July 17 / TUESDAY / DEPARTURE MONGOLIA OR POST TOUR
After breakfast. Transfer from hotel to Ulaan Baatar airport. Departure Mongolia. End of our services.(B)
