Bucegi Mountains is one of the most spectacular mountain range in Romania. A large network of forestry roads and single trails, the superb landscapes, are making these mountains the perfect place for a unforgettable mountain bike holiday.
Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Pick up from the Bucharest airport. Travel by road along the scenic Prahova valley, through the picturesque mountain resorts of Sinaia (130 km from the airport). We check in at the Marami 3*** hotel in Sinaia. Optionally we can do a short, bike or walking, tour in surrounding area 4-5 km.
Day 2: After breakfast we check out from the hotel, and start the 15 km climb to Bulboci lake. Here we will have a picnic lunch. From this point the road climbs easily to our hotel Pestera Hotel*** in Bucegi Mountains. Visit the Ialomitei Cave, near to hotel. (10 km. moderate road, 17 moderate - hard road, and mostly uphill)
Day 3: From Pestera Hotel we take the cable car to Babele Chalet (cable transport included). Here on the top of Bucegi plateau we will visit the Romanian sphinx - a rock carved by winds, resembling to a human face. Descend 25 km to Sinaia. (25 km. moderate mostly descends, no van support) Accommodation in Marami Hotel*** in Sinaia
Day 4: From Sinaia we transfer the bikes to Predeal 20 Km, then we climb about 3 km on an easy road. A massive 9 km downhill follows on an easy paved road with dozens of bends and beautiful landscapes. Then we cycle another 24 km to Moeciu. Accommodation in pension** Moeciu.
Day 5: No biking. Early in the morning, after breakfast we go for Bran Castle (Dracula's castle) 10km from our accommodation. Visit the Rasnov Fortress - founded around 1225 by Teutonic Knights. The superb location of this fortress allows us a great view over the surrounding mountains. Onward we reach Brasov – the most important medieval city in the area and one of the most visited cities in Romania. Great sites to visit as The Black Church, the main square, the old defense walls that are still well preserved on the south and west side of the old city the watch towers and the narrowest street in Europe are just a few points on this day’s agenda. Day 6: Transfer the bikes to Fundata. From here we take the bikes for a 35 km tour, mostly on forestry roads passing through traditional Romanian mountain villages in some meadows the ridges of Piatra Craiului mountains is closely visible. After less than 3 hours of pedaling we reach the Dambovicioara Valley and it’s beautiful gorges. The van will wait for us to transfer us back to Fundata for a great and technical downhill back to our accommodation in Moeciu. Accommodation in pension** Moeciu
Day 7: Round trip on forestry roads on the eastern side of Piatra Craiului Mountains. The trip will take us through the dispersed villages of Pestera and Magura. Easy - moderate road 31 km. Accommodation in pension** Moeciu.
Day 8: Transfer to Bucharest airport. Departure
