Our Escorted Verona Opera & Wine Tour is 21 - 25 July 2010.
14th century Castelvecchio, renaissance buildings and the famous balcony claimed to feature in Romeo & Juliet. By day journey through the wine villages of Valpolicella and on the shores of Lake Garda, and by night experience the glamour and intensity of world-class Opera performed in a magical setting.
The atmosphere in the arena makes for a truly unforgettable experience, and this year the opera performances are Madame Butterfly, Carmen, Aida and Turandot, which are superb in this theatrical and dramatic setting. We include a numbered step to the opera of your choice and can arrange further tickets to performances on the other two evenings. Happily, after the evening’s excitement your hotel is within walking distance of the Arena, so there is no fighting to find your coach at midnight for a lengthy journey home which you would find on a less exclusive holiday.
Our wine visits are planned to depart mid to late morning, so, after your late night at the opera, there is no rushing for early starts. On arrival we visit the dynamic Serego and Zenato, where we taste great Valpolicellas as well as their complex Lugana Riserva from the shores of Lake Garda.
We then head to the pretty hills of Vapolicella to our second visit with the welcoming family run Ca La Bionda. We lunch at the Valpolicella estate of Count Alighieri, descendant of the great Italian poet Dante Alighieri; these are stunning wines - the power of the Amarones will bowl you over and to finish there is the exquisite Recioto!
There is also time to enjoy Verona’s Roman and Medieval sites, elegant shops, wine bars and restaurants.

Day 1. Meet in Verona. Pre Opera Supper. Tonight's Opera is Madame Butterfly.
Day 2. Visit and Lunch at wine estate. Free time in Lazise. Tonight's Opera is Aida.
Day 3. Visit Soave Wine estate. Lunch in Soave. Free time in Verona. Tonight's Opera is Carmen.
Day 4. Visit Valpolicella estate. Visit and Lunch at wine estate. Free time in Verona. Tonight's Opera is Turandot.
