Here are some sample itineraries for the discerning traveler, who wants to discover this beautiful area at their own pace and return at the end of the day to luxurious and individual accommodation. The villages we have chosen are the most beautiful in the Cotswolds and the accommodation the best in each one. You will not be part of a group so the itinerary can be tailor-made or adapted to suit your requirements and time scale.

First Walking Tour in the Cotswolds

Day 1 - Arrive and transfer to Chipping Campden, the home of the Arts & Crafts movement. Time permitting a walk around this beautiful Cotswold town, or a short walk to neighbouring Broad Campden. Overnight Chipping Campden 2 nights in Cotswold House Hotel.

Day 2 - Circular walk from Chipping Campden to two of the most famous gardens in the world - Hidcote Gardens and nearby Kiftsgate Gardens. Hidcote is a masterpiece of the Arts & Crafts Movement, a series of outdoor rooms each with its own unique character, with old roses, unusual plants and trees from around the world and with stunning panoramas across the Vale of Evesham. Continue walking back to Chipping Campden for overnight.

Day 3 - Transfer to Broadway. Walk from Broadway to Winchcombe along the Cotswold Way passing through some of the loveliest villages in England - Buckland, Stanton (much used for period films and movies), Stanway with its beautiful manor house and tithe barn and the romantic ruins of Hailes Abbey. Overnight Winchcombe 2 nights in Isbourne Manor House.

Day 4 - Visit Sudeley Castle and Gardens (burial place of the last of Henry VIII's wives) and circular walk from Winchcombe, including Belas Knap neolithic burial chamber, with magnificent views over the Cotswolds. Overnight Winchcombe.

Day 5 - Transfer to Birdlip and walk across meadows and through woodland to the picturesque village of Sheepscombe and on to Painswick, 'Queen of the Cotswolds' , with its village centre of tiny streets and cottages. Visit the nearby Rococo gardens if time. Overnight Painswick 2 nights in Painswick Hotel.

Day 6 - Walk from Painswick through Laurie Lee Country. Laurie Lee lived in nearby Slad and his childhood memoir 'Cider with Rosie' has become a modern classic. The countryside here is still much as he would have known it in his boyhood. Overnight Painswick.

Day 7 - Transfer to a point along the Cotswold Way from where you may walk into Bath, one of Europe's finest cities, with its tiers of Georgian terraces, its Roman baths and beautiful abbey. Overnight Royal Crescent Hotel for two nights.

Day 8 - Time to explore this wonderful city - take a walking tour along the canal or the beautiful skyline tour of Bath. Overnight Bath.
