The capital Stone Town seems to stand still in history and has many different and interesting stories to tell. Visit the bustling markets, amazing cathedrals and mosques, and ancient bath houses for a complete cultural experience. Enjoy two full days relaxing at a beach resort on the east of the island and enjoy the opportunity to Scuba dive in the Indian Ocean.
Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Zanzibar Airport/Harbour – Stone Town, Tanzania. You will be met at Zanzibar Airport or Harbour and transferred to Stone Town hotel where you will overnight on a Bed and Breakfast basis. Overnight at Zanzibar Serena Inn – no meals.
Day 2: Stone Town, Tanzania. Depart for a guided tour of stone town. This tour will take you through narrow streets of the Old Stone Town, where history appears to stand still, with visits to the House of Wonders, the Palace Museum (People’s Palace), Dr Livingstone’s House and the Arab Front amongst others. It provides a fascinating look at the essence of Zanzibar. You will see Zanzibar’s bustling market, winding alleyways, ornately carved and studded doors, two cathedrals and mosques. You will have free time in the afternoon for you to explore further on you own or to relax. In the evening, depart from the hotel for a sunset cruise along the Stone Town waterfront. Stop at Forodhani gardens for a glance at the evening life with dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at Zanzibar Serena Inn – breakfast and dinner.
Day 3: Zanzibar, Tanzania. Depart from the hotel and transfer to Kizimbani Village for a spice tour, where you will have the opportunity to see spices such as cloves, Cinnamon, Black Pepper, Nutmeg, Turmeric root growing in the plantations. You will get the opportunity to taste many tropical fruit such as jack fruit, custard, apple rambutan, and carambola. Finally you will visit the Kidichi Persian Baths that were built by the first Sultan of Zanzibar, Sultan Said Said bin Sultan in 1850, as well as view the Maruhabi Palace Ruins built by the third Sultan of Zanzibar, Sultan Said Barahash Bin Said in 1880 which were built to house his 99 harem. Today lunch is included, after which you will be transferred to the beach hotel on the east coast. Overnight at Bluebay Beach Resort – all meals.
Days 4-5: East coast of Zanzibar, Tanzania. Spend days 4 and 5 on the beaches of the East Coast or at the resorts swimming pool. Scuba Diving or diving courses for beginners are available (at an additional cost) at most beach resorts in Zanzibar. Overnight at Bluebay Beach Resort – breakfast and dinner.
Day 6: Zanzibar, Tanzania. After breakfast you will be transferred back to the airport/harbor.
