Starting with an exciting 30 minute Zodiac boat ride from Port McNeil we will be dropped off on a beach in the Plumper Islands. Here we go over a comprehensive paddle briefing before beginning our kayak journey. Expect to be on the water from five to six hours, with breaks for snacks, a delicious lunch, or simply to explore the pebble beaches and coastal rain forest.

We chose this area for our day trips for the excellent chances of wildlife encounters. We often see eagles, seals, sea lions, humpback whales and even orcas during our excursions. Please bear in mind that wildlife is just that – wild – and as such, each day is different.

Our Zodiac will pick us up between 4:30 and 5:00 pm for the return to Port McNeill. We will be back in Port McNeill around 5:30 pm.

We’ll meet you at 7:45 AM at your accommodations in Port McNeil for the short drive to our awaiting zodiac boat. The boat leaves promptly at 8:00 am.

Stable double kayaks are provided, as well as all paddling equipment, specialized jackets, kayaking mitts, water bottles, snacks and lunch. We also provide dry bags for the extra clothing and accessories you’ll want to bring.

Please dress suitably; shoes that can get wet, synthetic clothing, hat, and sunglasses are necessary. Be aware that weather changes in Johnstone Strait and Blackfish Sound are frequent. Extremes from cool/overcast to wet/windy to warm/dry can occur in a 12-hour period. Please be prepared by dressing in layers and bringing extra clothing.

Notes:
Airfare is not included in the tour price.
