There are plenty wildlife, whose tracks can be seen on the snow during the rides.

The program includes three riding days through a snowy landscapes and dense forests. The ride is suitable also for beginners as horses are well trained Icelandic horses. Accommodation: Taivaan Pankko is a unique farm house, which got it’s present architectural appearance by a famous Finnish designer Mr Ristomatti Ratia. It’s situated in a peaceful spot on top of Mustolanvaara, on a foothill, just 3km from the center of Paltamo municipality center. Taivaan Pankko's main building has five rooms accommodating a total of 5-10 guests. Each room is individually decorated. There is also a big traditional style living room and kitchen, and there are WC/shower facilities on both floors.

Equipment and clothing: Horses carry in the saddlebags the equipment you need during the day (cameras, extra clothes etc.). The average temperature has been – 8 Celsius, sun already warms up the days and gives a nice sun tan for those who are outdoors. Average depth of snow is 100 cm in March in Kajaani region (based for years 1971-2000).

It’s good idea to be prepared for chilly weather. Finnish buildings are so well heated you’ll want to shed some of those layers when you get inside, no matter how cold it is outside. Warm, waterproof boots are an advantage in the slushy southern autumns, while fur or other thick linings are a good idea whenever the temperatures fall below minus ten Celsius.

Thick, padded jackets are likewise fairly indispensable wherever you happen to be in the winter, and truly essential in winter. If you are planning to try some winter sports, you will be able to purchase the right specialist clothing and footwear when you arrive in Finland.
