Liptov region is surrounded by the mountains. On the south, there is the largest mountain range of Slovakia, Low Tatras, on the north are West Tatras. In the valley between these mountains nature created hot springs and people built the dam. Well known place for summer and winter holiday and picturesque corner of the country. This tour will show you popular and also hidden parts of the Liptov region.
This trip is based on unique accommodation in newly restored hotel. Great place and beautiful location. Originally building was a castle from 14the century, which gave the name of the town. “Hradok” in Slovak means a castle. It may be also organize for those who are looking for their origin in Slovakia(like Andy Warhol family).
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival day. Meeting with a guide and transfer from the airport to the hotel in Liptovsky Hradok. Welcome dinner and introduction with an area.
Day 2: West Tatras. Transfer to western Tatras, less known and visited part of Tatras ridge. The valley of Rohace offers to the tourists a walk that passes around its cascade and its lakes, and all this is surrounded by the rock faces of the main ridge of West Tatras and typical flora and fauna of the Tatras. Possibly visit of open air museum of Slovak village in Zuberec with 17th century wooden church.
Day 3: Chocske Hills. A walk in the picturesque limestone gorge of Prosiek and Kvacany, besides the natural beauties you can find there old river mills. Approximately 5 hours walk, with easy technical equipment such as metal ladders to pass through the gorge.
Day 4: Vlkolinec. Easy walking day, in the middle of our walk we will visit Vlkolinec, the village listed in the UNESCO World Heritage, as the settlement with the traditional architecture and way of life.
Day 5: Optional day. The day when you are welcome to tell us your wishes and we will arrange your day. In the region of Liptov, you can try one of the thermal spas, visit the caves, take the opportunity to try rafting on the river, play like Tarzan between the trees in Tarzania or admire ancient churches. For those who love mountains is the option to take the flight above the High Tatras and their sharp valleys.We can arrange for you also the visit of the famous Polish royal town, Cracow or its neighboring little town Auschwitz, known as one of the largest Nazi camps. More option may be discussed with local guide.
Day 6: Low Tatras. The walk on the ridge of the Low Tatras, the largest mountain range in the middle of Slovakia. We will climb the famous peak Chopok and enjoy the panoramic views from the ridge. Half way up by the chair lift, easy walk about 6 hours.
Day 7: High Tatras. Transfer to the High Tatras and visit of Strbske Pleso, walk to Mengusovska valley, the neighboring picturesque valley with the lake and symbolical cemetery of the High Tatras. (3 hours walk). Transfer back to our hotel and farewell dinner.
Day 8: Good-bye day. Transfer to the airport and homeward flight.
