Tour Itinerary:
Day 1, Saturday: Frankfurt - USA. Depart from your home city for an overnight flight to Frankfurt.
Day 2, Sunday: Frankfurt -Wuerzburg - Rothenburg
Depart from Frankfurt in the morning and drive to through the Spessart Mountains to Wuerzburg. Enjoy a tour of its magnificent Residence, which is a masterpiece of German Baroque architecture. Continue on the Romantic Road to Rothenburg, Germany’s ”Jewel of the Middle Ages“. A walking tour of this charming town will follow, which includes a visit to the Jakobskirche, known for the famous altar created by Tilman Riemenschneider. In the evening enjoy a welcome dinner at your hotel. Overnight stay at Hotel Tilman Riemenschneider or similar. Includes: (D).
Day 3, Monday: Rothenburg - Augsburg - Fuessen
After breakfast you will continue along the Romantic Road, and will stop in charming towns like Dinkelsbuehl and Noerdlingen. On your way to Fuessen, you will pass the city of Augsburg and the glorious Rococo style pilgrimage church of Wies, with its picturesque views of the spectacular Bavarian Alps. Overnight stay at the TREFF Hotel Luitpoldpark or similar. Includes: (B).
Day 4, Tuesday: Fuessen - Neuschwanstein Castle - Linderhof - Garmisch
Today we take a short trip to Hohenschwangau, and visit the fairtyale castle of King Ludwig II, Neuschwanstein. Continue on to Linderhof Castle, less famous, but even more beautiful than Neuschwanstein. Later this afternoon, you will arrive in the Olympic town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Overnight stay at the Hotel Obermühle or similar. Includes: (B).
Day 5, Wednesday: Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Oberammergau - Ettal - Munich
Following breakfast the tour will continue towards Oberammergau, home of the famous Passion Play which is performed only once every decade, most recently in the year 2000. After a stop at the Benedictine Monastery of Ettal, it’s on to Munich. A city tour of Munich highlights this Bavarian capital and will include Nymphenburg Palace and the Olympic Tower. Following the tour, you can explore Munich on your own. Tonight, you may choose to join the optional “Bavarian Evening“ at the famous Hofbraeuhaus. Overnight stay at Hotel Erzgiesserei or similar. Day 6, Thursday: Munich - Lindau - Lake Constance - Singen
This morning we proceed to Lake Constance, at the north shore of the Lake, which is located between Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Enjoy a walking tour of Lindau, before continuing on to Konstanz, the largest town on Lake Constance with significant historical interest. Overnight stay at the Holiday Inn Express or similar. Includes: (B).
Day 7, Friday: Konstanz - Freiburg - Black Forest - Heidelberg - Wiesloch
After breakfast, depart for Freiburg, a region known for its cuckoo clocks. Visit the town of Triberg along Lake Titisee, before arriving in Freiberg, the “capital of the Black Forest“. Following a city tour, continue towards the university town of Heidelberg. This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner at the famous Restaurant Zum Ritter St. Georg, built in the 16th century. Overnight stay at the Best Western Palatin Kongresshotel or similar. Includes: (B), (D).
Day 8, Saturday: Heidelberg - Ruedesheim - Frankfurt
Early this morning, visit the inner courtyard of Heidelberg Castle. Afterwards, you will travel to the Upper Middle Rhine Valley, famous for its wines and vineyards. Take a brief cruise down the Rhine River, from Ruedesheim to St. Goarshausen, passing more romantic castles and the Loreley Rock. Arrive in Frankfurt this evening. Overnight stay at the Intercity Hotel or similar. Includes: (B).
Day 9, Sunday: Frankfurt - USA. Following breakfast and hotel check-out, transfer on your own* to the airport for your scheduled flight back to the United States. Includes: (B).
