The Drigung Chu is situated in an exquisite alpine valley about 2 hours from Lhasa. The 2 day trip runs more whitewater and also includes a visit to the Tidrum Nunnery and hot springs. To undertake this trip you should be able to swim and you must be fit and fairly well acclimatized (at least 4 days in Lhasa). This run is quite technical so you will be expected to paddle often.
Your Itinerary:
1 Day Option:
- Depart Lhasa 8am
- Drive to Drigung Valley
- Full day of rafting
- Arrive Lhasa around 7 pm.
2 Days Option:
Day 1:
- Depart Lhasa 8am
- Drive to Drigung Valley
- Afternoon rafting then visit hot springs and nunnery.
Day 2:
- Full day of rafting
- Drive back to Lhasa
- Arrive Lhasa around 7 pm.
You need to bring the following:
- Bathing/swim suit
- Towel
- Sun hat and sunscreen (SPF 15 lip balm is recommended)
- Sunglasses with strap
- Refillable water bottle
- Camera and protective camera bag
- Pair of shorts to go over wet suit.
For overnight or multi-day expedition trips you should also bring:
- Warm clothing for off the river and evenings
- Sleeping bag (available for rental if required)
- Personal Toiletries
- Spare film and batteries
- Small torch/flashlight
- A book or cards.
1 Day trip: 25km rafting and 3-4 hours on the water
2 Day option: 40km rafting and 2 days on the water.
