Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Bagdogra-Gangtok. Arrival Gangtok from Bagdogra. Meet and transfer to Hotel. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 2: Gangtok. Full day sightseeing at Gangtok. Visit all major places of tourist interest around Gangtok like important Buddhist monasteries, Hindu temples, establishments devoted to local art, culture and architecture, specialized botanical collections and shopping areas selling local handicraft and artifices, within a distance of 100 km around Gangtok.
Day 3: Nathula Pass/Chango Lake. Excursion to Nathula Pass and Chango Lake, visit to the 15000 feet Nathula Pass, right on the Chinese border where you can even shake hands with the Chinese guards on the other side of the fence, visit to the legendary shrine of Baba Harbhajan Singh and Chango Lake while returning, all surrounded by snow clad mountains, is once in a lifetime experience.
Days 4-5: Yumthang Valley-Mountain Safari. Two days Mountain Safari to Yumthang Valley, this 1 night 2 days Mountain Safari in hard top jeeps, along the 150 km rugged hilly terrain is a once in a lifetime experience. The route is a gradual climb from 5,000 to 13,000 feet and every kilometer of it unravels a new dimension to your knowledge bank. Sometimes a massive waterfall and somewhere a dense forest, next may be the lush paddy fields filled with water harnessed from nearby streams and then suddenly a tiny Himalayan village or a small township with red cheek children playing around or people waiting for the local transport at the road heads. As you proceed, in the month of March/April, you may be left dumbfounded after encountering a kilometer long Rhododendron concentration in various hues as if the whole jungle is on fire. During winters, the flowering beds and the slopes are covered with a blanket of 4-5 feet thick snow, rendering the entire terrain a vast spread of white. The journey is dotted with herds of Yaks, an important part of the local economy.
Day 5: Yumthang/Gangtok. Return to Gangtok from Yumthang.
Day 6: Gangtok/Bagdogra. Departure for Bagdogra.
