Enjoy the benefits of fishing with one of our expert guides who live and breathe trout fishing.
We specialize in shore based fishing among the shallow margins of smaller lagoons or larger highland lakes and also boat based fishing on the larger hydro lakes. This package allows your guide to select the fishing destination and excludes all Western Lakes.
Guides specialize in modern fly fishing techniques while also catering for all other popular trout fishing methods. We are leaders in the use of soft plastic lures and are able to provide you with an introduction or teach more advanced techniques. This package does not provide live bait.
The duration of your fishing day will be a maximum of 8 hours. We provide tuition for all popular fishing methods, fly casting and advanced fly fishing techniques. All fishing equipment is provided or if preferred you are welcome to bring your own. Boat fishing adventures are conducted from one of our customized sports boats. We also provide our homemade fisherman's lunch and morning/afternoon tea.
Our guided fishing season begins in August and concludes in April with peak fishing months falling between November and March.
About Tasmania's Highland Lake Fishery
The Highland Lake country encompasses literally thousands of trout filled waters. The area is located in the centre of Tasmania at an altitude of over 1000 metres. An established road system allows excellent access from all directions.
Many of Tasmania's highland lakes are positioned in close proximity and provide countless fishing destinations that can be accessed within minutes of each other. There are two distinct wild trout fisheries, the larger man made hydro waters such as Great Lake and Arthurs Lake and the much smaller natural lagoons and tarns that lay scattered across the plateau.
Individual waters offer unique variations in fish size, species and fishing methods. Brown trout are the most abundant and are prized for their consistent surface feeding qualities. Sight fishing opportunities abound as fast moving rainbows feed in wind slicks and browns either cruise over shallow flats, forage in lake margins, stealthily sip beetles from the surface or slash wildly at vulnerable may flies.
