Join internationally exhibited mosaic artist/sculptor Robert Markey for a rare unique 1 week (March 8th – 15th) of incredible learning and fun at Casa de los Artistas. Come and relax, create, explore and learn as Bob guides you, demonstrates and explains about the various methods, materials and techniques that goes into the creation of a mosaic. We will use both purchased and found objects (river rocks, pebbles, ceramic tiles, etc.) to create unique mosaics. Markey will give demonstrations so each participant will understand the basics of creating a mosaic in the stunning Casa Studio, a 1500 sqr. ft. open-air studio with incredible views. Participants in Bob’s 1 week “Introduction to Mosaics” will have lots of hands on work, along with demonstrations and lectures.

Anticipate a memorable experience, filled with adventure, inspiration, and camaraderie among new friends. You will bring home with you skills, knowledge, insight and a working understanding of the mosaic process, along with one or two completed pieces. The Casa’s Bob Masla, who has over 30 years as an exhibiting artist and over 25 years teaching experience, will also be available for teaching and demonstrating the techniques for drawing and rendering, both from observation and eidetic powers, so you can work out your mosaic inspiration and ideas on paper too.

But that’s not all; there will be numerous cultural excursions as well. We will visit the exotic botanical gardens for photography and sketching, the Mt. town of El Tuito to sketch and explore at the zocalo and then have lunch and tequila tasting at the hacienda restaurant Altamira, overlooking the mountains and the aguave plantation. A trip into Peurto Vallarta to shop at the Mercado and experience the lively arts scene. A boat trip to explore the gorgeous coastline and spectacular rock formations, as well as to swim or snorkel at Los Arcos National Coral Reef Park, with opportunities for seeing sea turtles, whales, dolphins and abundant fish. We will also visit the near by lush Botanical Gardens to view the tropical flora and fauna. Other wild life is right at hand, from your balcony you can view tropical birds and observe the local unspoiled fishing village of Boca come to life each day.

This workshop is suitable for everyone, regardless of their art experience. From those with no previous training, as well as the seasoned artists and professional looking to find a place of calm reflection and fresh inspiration to infuse their work with new energy and stimulation. Our goal is for you to return home refreshed and recharged, with a deeper perspective and tools for living "Passionately" in your day-to-day life.
