David Rooks is an ornithologist and naturalist with over 32 years experience, four times elected President of the Trinidad and Tobago Field Naturalist Club, a prolific speaker and author of nature articles.
"Harpers and Queen" said, " ... you can learn more in a morning in his company than is possible through any other source." Rooks' two main field trips to the Rainforest and Little Tobago were offered as a first prize by the BBC Natural History Unit during filming in Tobago of Sir David Attenborough's "Trials of Life" and "Vampires, Devilbirds and Spirits, the Calypso Isles." He was highlighted on National Geographic Adventure Magazine at "Birdbrain" Feb. 2007 issue.
In recognition of his knowledge of and dedication to Trinidad and Tobago's natural history, David Rooks has been invited to serve on the Boards of the Trinidad and Tobago National Museum, Partners of the Americas, Institute of Marine Affairs and the Environmental sub-committee of the Tobago Chamber of Commerce.
David Rooks now lives in Canoe Bay, Tobago and works at the edge of Tobago's Main Ridge Forest Reserve. He continues to lead groups of nature and bird lovers on tours of Tobago. This website contains partial lists of Tobago Birds which can be seen in the Four main birding habitats in Tobago:
