Originally settled by the French, Bedeque is one of the oldest communities on Prince Edward Island. "Maplethorpe" was built in the 1860’s by Major Wright, and was an imposing home indicative of the owner’s status as a prominent businessman, postmaster and Justice of the Peace.
Painstaking renovations were begun in January 2002 and although they continue to this day, the property was able to be opened as a bed and breakfast in July 2002. Historic Maplethorpe is proud to have been chosen as one of seven Island properties to be featured on a charity holiday home tour.
