Four weeks immersed in acting, music, dance/movement in the beautiful south of France. Working with outstanding instructor who are professional performers as well as generous and dedicated teachers, participants build performance skills. Our surroundings inspire and inform our work as we visit villages, museums, beaches and sea ports to experience and explore the region.
Two days at the International Theater Festival in Avignon give us a chance to be spectators as well as performers with our own street theater performance. Live, work and play as an ensemble - learn the give and take of working together. Participants come from around the world. Instruction is in English with many opportunities to polish your French.
Faculty Information:
* Writing instructor/ensemble coach: freelance journalist and television producer, attended Princeton and UCLA.
* Dance instructor: dance captain for the touring company of CATS, teaches, performs and choreographs in New York City.
* Music Director: graduate of Berkely School of Music, teaches and performs in New York City.
* Acting instructor: graduation of Royal Academy, Scotland, teaches and performs in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Other Activities:
We make full use of our surroundings with day trips to St. Paul de Vence and the Foundation Maeght, Nice, and a day in the mountains with some hiking and a work session at the "top of the world." A swimming pool on campus, volley ball courts, tennis courts are available for free time. Trips to the beach and visits to villages are scheduled throughout the month. A highlight is the two-day visit to the International Theater Festival in Avignon where we attend professional theater performances, take in street performances and become part of the festival with our own street performance.
Facility Information:
The Center International de Valbonne, an international boarding school, is to the Ensemble Theater Workshop. Participants have private dormitory rooms and meals are served in the cafeteria. A dance studio, theater, music room and various classrooms on campus as well as the parklike setting are used for classes and recreation. Located in the Sophia Antipolis International business park just above Antibes and a 20 minute drive from the Nice International Airport.
