Faculty Information:
We take great pride in our teaching standards and employ only the highest caliber staff, holding university degrees in linguistics and Latin American literature and most with several years of experience teaching Spanish to foreigners. We would like to emphasis that with the Instituto Superior de Español you will receive the very best of Spanish language tuition, from the best teachers Ecuador has to offer. Furthermore, all of our teachers are native Ecuadorians, which allows our students to gain invaluable insights into Latin American history, culture, and traditions.

Other Activities:
Free-time activities are numerous in Quito whether hiking up Gua Gua Pichincha, or taking the easy route on the cable car, there is something for everyone. The Old Town boasts some exciting cultural activities during the week-ends and with numerous museums to visit, from Pre-Incan gold collections to Guayasamin's world renowned artwork, there is never a dull moment. We haven't even mentioned the numerous bars and restaurants at your finger tips!

* During the week we organize cooking classes, free salsa lessons, and other mini trips, including going to the cinema to see Spanish films, visiting local museums in the new city or touring the cathedrals and culture of the old city. Students pay the costs for these activities, which range between just US$1 and US$5 per student, per activity.

* We love to explore and to show others this magnificent country so we provide weekend excursions (every week) to the rain forest, volcanoes, cloud forests, beach, and many more sites of outstanding beauty or interest. We pride ourselves in finding locations away from the usual "tourist traps". In the past these trips have included, hiking in the Cotopaxi Reserve, trekking and horseback riding in the Andes and rafting in the cloud forests of Mindo. Students pay at cost, between US$20 and US$60 per student, per excursion. The trips are typically all weekend and so hotels, food, transportation and activities are included in these prices.

Facility Information:
Our neighborhood is home to a vibrant food and artisan market and is filled with a variety of small restaurants and stores serving local delicacies and selling a random collection of merchandise. The Spanish school is located within a renovated colonial-style house and is equipped with barbecue, video room, fireplace, library, laundry, storage room, and a common room for breaks. There is also a patio with garden to enjoy the sunny weather of Quito.

Accommodation Details. We offer our students the choice of living with an Ecuadorian family or in a hostel/hotel:

* Host Families: Many students choose to live with local families; it's a good way to immerse yourself into the culture and have a friendly environment to practice the Spanish learnt during the day. All of our host families are located in safe and quiet neighborhoods close to our school (within 15 minutes walking distance). Each student has a private bedroom, receives three high quality Ecuadorian meals per day (and there is no need to worry about hygiene, all food and drinks are prepared to the highest standard) and will have keys to come and go from the house as he/she pleases. Most of the families we work with have been hosting our students for many years and some families host more than one student at a time.

* Hotel and Hostel: If you prefer to stay in a hotel or hostel, we are happy to offer suggestions or help you make reservations. All three of our recommended locations offer a variety of accommodation, variable prices, something for everyone, and are within easy reach of the school.

Notes:
Prices are per person per week. The course can be from 1 till 8 weeks, from 4 till 7 hours per day.
