Students of every level are welcome to join the courses of standard modern Arabic. After written and oral tests at the beginning of the session each student will be assigned to the course appropriate to his/her ability level. There are four levels: beginner, intermediate, advanced and superior. All the instructors are native Arabic speakers. Classes are held Monday through Friday with four one hour sessions each day. The number of students in each class will be limited to ten. The school uses a humanistic communication approach whereby each student is encouraged to play a central role in the teaching/learning process. Teaching methods are based on the principle that a language is learned to communicate in everyday situations and the techniques used allow the student to practice what he already knows in conversational situations. In addition to conversational activities such as scene play, role play and group discussions there are also games which serve to further stimulate communication in the language.
For each level completed the school awards a certificate.
Levels:
Beginner - The beginner level is designed for students who have little or no experience with the Arabic language. In this level the student will study the Arabic alphabet, basic vocabulary and the fundamental grammar of the language. The student will acquire the skills necessary to read, understand and write simple sentences and to communicate in simple every day situations.
Intermediate - At this level the student is introduced to the study of simple dialogs and texts. Syntax and vocabulary are studied through practical exercises in written texts and in conversation. The focus at this level centers on the study of regular verb forms and an introduction to the irregular verbs found in the texts studied. The goal at this level is to develop a stronger understanding of the grammatical forms, the vocabulary and the pronunciation of the language which will allow the student to move on to a more advanced level.
Advanced - In the advanced level students will concentrate on consolidating and expanding upon the lessons of the previous levels. Continued strengthening of grammatical knowledge and enriching of vocabulary will be achieved through the study of newspapers, magazine articles, extracts from modern and classic novels, songs and local proverbs. The writing of short essays and the simulation of more complex conversational situations will also be used to strengthen verbal and comprehensive abilities.
Superior - The most advanced level offered is designed for students who already possess a strong understanding of the Arabic language. A solid foundation in basic grammatical forms and and vocabulary will augmented through the study of extracts from poetry and novels, newspaper articles and essays on social, cultural and political subjects. The goal of this level is to provide each student with a high degree of skill and comfort in both spoken communication and the written language.
Faculty Information:
The conception is that of visiting a country with one's eyes wide open, of learning the reality through seminars and of being close to the real life of the country. The students won't find everything spic and span, the ways of the country and the idea of time are different and must be respected. The accommodation chosen is really Egyptian and this injects real money into Egypt (when you travel with the big tour operators often the money goes back to the rich countries as the accommodation is within the structures whose capital is European).
Other Activities:
We are a non profit making association operating in the developing countries. It is creating new types of courses which help to understand other customs and cultures through a new conception of tourism.
Facility Information:
Alexandria - The pearl of the Mediterranean sea, founded in 331 B. C. by Alexander the Great, center of culture for centuries, birthplace of the famous library, the first and richest one of the ancient world... it invites you to a fabulous stay for your studies
