Tutor Ben Russell has chosen some outstanding locations in south west Ireland, for his digital photography workshops. The emphasis is on seeing and taking superb photos, while developing an understanding of the basic principals of photography. Expect a mix of tuition, presentations and photo analysis, with out-door picture taking sessions, making full use of the fabulous surroundings. The content of the workshop is geared to the participants needs and interests, and usually covers:
- a review of the basics of exposure — aperture, shutter speed and ISO
- composition — view angle, focal length, subject placement etc
- depth of field — how to isolate subjects or focus from near to infinity
- filters - polarizing and graduated
- shooting in aperture priority — A or Av setting
- shooting with raw format, and raw development
- cataloging, storing and backing up images
Workshops are run in association with Olympus, and open to users of all camera brands. One-day workshops are also available for inexperienced photographers, and individual tuition can be arranged.
