Not all golf camps are the same and selecting the right one can provide lasting benefits. This camp is for kids from 10-18. Developed and refined over the years by a staff of PGA pros and our own golf professionals, we have created the total summer golf program second to none. We combine the best of supervision with quality instruction and fun, non-golf activities to provide an unforgettable summer experience.
All of our golf programs feature the following highlights:
- Low student to instructor ratio.
- Students receive 3 hours of expert golf instruction daily, four days during the week.
- One of our PGA pros will work with you every day.
- Play the course opportunities . Each student will play (in carefully matched foursomes) up to 18 holes 4 times a week plus 9 holes Sunday evening on the University of Virginia's beautiful Birdwood Golf Course.
- A golf workbook containing specific instructional tips designed individually for each student.
- Tournament play.
- A program covering all aspects of the game that is suitable for beginners through advanced levels.

Faculty Information:
PGA Professionals Martin Winters and Scott Ezell co-direct the 4 Star Golf Camp. Martin, a '95 graduate of the University of Virginia, has a 12 year association with the University's Birdwood Golf Club, presently serving as its Director of Golf and Head Golf Professional.
Scott has been helping golfers improve their games for over 20 years. A collegiate and tour golfer, Scott moved to Virginia in 1994 and has served both as the University of Virginia's Assistant Golf Coach and Birdwood's Director of Instruction. Scott and Martin's expertise and genuine love of working with kids is one of the most outstanding highlights of our programs.
Other Activities:
Evening Activities: Summer evenings are a time to relax, socialize, and have fun. We have planned an impressive schedule of "just for fun" activities including bowling, capture the flag, karaoke, dinner out, dancing, pizza and birthday night, Ice Cream Social, at-camp and in-town movies, and more! Of course, there will be a special trip to enjoy the local fireworks display for those attending the week of July 4th.
What will campers do on the weekend between each session: It is very common for campers to attend for more than just one week. Campers attending multi-week sessions will have the occasion to attend one-day, supervised excursions at a variety of locations.
This is a wonderful opportunity to experience what Virginia and surrounding areas have to offer while reinforcing the friendships built during the week’s activities. These excursions might include Whitewater raftingon the James River, Watercountry USA, Paramount’s King’s Dominion or Busch Gardens depending on the weeks.
Facility Information:
Students are housed in university dorms at the University of Mary Washington. The Tennis Facility features 12 outdoor, lighted courts along with 6 indoor courts all located within walking distance from the dorms.
Our residential staff acts as big brothers and sisters to students, yet also provides supervision and mentoring. Living in a dorm is a great way to meet new friends, have fun, and learn how to live in a group setting. Since most students come to the program not knowing anyone, each is assigned to a dorm group to facilitate meeting other campers.
Each floor has its own Residential Advisor - experienced in residential life - and a better than four to one ratio of students to staff. This system was designed to ensure student safety, the absolute best supervision, and a feeling of friendship and interaction among students and staff.
Roommates are assigned according to age and we make every effort to honor roommate requests. Two students share a dorm room although occasionally a student will be assigned to a single room. The rooms are comfortable with beds, desks, bureaus and closet for each student along with a mini-refrigerator in each room.
The residents' lounges are a great place to meet, play ping-pong or watch a movie. Right outside the dorms are open areas for throwing a frisbee around, playing some soccer, talking with friends and other activities.
A large part of the program occurs at and around the dorms where friends, socializing, and memories flourish. The university housekeeping staff cleans the common areas each day - you are responsible for keeping your own room clean.
