The stroll across the 3,455 ft. Brooklyn Bridge is one of the most dramatic walks in New York. Our walk will take us across the oldest and and what was largest steel wired suspension bridges in the U.S, The view of the city and harbor through the filigree of cables is magnificent. It was first bridge that linked Manhattan and Brooklyn. Since its opening, it has become an iconic part of the New York skyline. In 1964 it was designated a National Historic Landmark. From the bridge you will see lower Manhattan, Governor’s Island, The Verrazano Narrows Bridge, the Manhattan and Williamsburg Bridges, Roosevelt Island, Staten Island, the 59th St. Bridge and you will have a panoramic view of Brooklyn. It was from this location that the films Spider man and the Fantastic 4 were set.
Upon exiting the bridge, we will walk enter the distinctive residential community of Brooklyn Heights with its narrow, tree-lined streets and its rich history dating back to the Revolutionary War. It was easily accessible by ferry before the Brooklyn Bridge was built. Brownstones and town houses that represent every style of 19th century architecture, the Brooklyn Historical Society, the Plymouth Church, known for its integral involvement with the Underground Railroad during slavery and where Abraham Lincoln worshipped and Grace Court Alley, a picturesque mews that was the stable alley for the fine homes on Remsen Street. Quaint boutiques line the major arteries. We will walk on the promenade where we will have fantastic views of the lower Manhattan skyline and see the area where a number of the Bill Cosby Show segments were filmed. The tour will pass by the Brooklyn Center Center, with its massive public buildings, such as Borough Hall and the former Brooklyn Hall. Group will then take the subway back to Brooklyn Bridge stop where tour began in Manhattan.
