There is nothing like a blue water ocean passage. Truly the top sailing school experience, ourOcean Passage course is designed for experienced sailors (must be ASA certified through Advanced Coastal Cruising ASA 106) who want to learn or practice blue water sailing techniques.
Topics covered while sailing include: passagemaking planning, voyage preparation, setting and working a watch, shipboard routines, emergency procedures, weather, heavy weather procedures, navigation, boat systems and maintenance, international rules of the road, and much more. We also cover the material in ASA 107, Celestial Navigation. Our ocean passage sailing is between St Thomas, Bermuda, and the Chesapeake. The highest level of training – our Ocean Passage course. This is the trip for those wishing offshore experience, celestial navigation training and applications of true blue water sailing. Material covered is derived from ASA 107, Celestial Navigation and ASA 108, Offshore Passagemaking. The curriculum includes passage planning, voyage preparation, shipboard routines, emergency procedures, and international rules of the road. There is an additional $300 fee for certification in Celestial Navigation. Certification through ASA 106 and ASA 107 is prerequisite for the ocean passage trip (ASA107 may be taken simultaneously.)
