The Land of Enchantment is blessed with numerous climbing areas. Even in the summer months there is a nice variety of crags at higher elevations tucked into the surrounding mountains that offer comfortable climbing temperatures even in the middle of the summer. The centerpiece for summer adventure climbing in New Mexico is the Sandia Mountains located just outside Albuquerque. This is our home area and we love to share its unique and rugged character with visiting climbers. Moving north on our tour, the Jemez and Sangre de Cristo Mountains also hold exceptional crags on a variety of different rock types. We visit the Pecos and Los Conchas areas which are among some of the better summer time crags, offering excellent cragging in cool (in both senses of the word) mountain environments. As a final destination we let folks in on a little know secret here in New Mexico, the Brazos Cliffs near Chama, NM. These walls are some of the biggest in the US, with the Main Cliffs being well over 2,000 ft. tall. Although immense in scale these cliffs offer a unique climb of moderate difficulty. The so-called Easy Ridge is a 12-18 pitch 5.6 that climbs the largest part of the Main Cliffs. This is a 5 day tour that can be adapted for groups or individuals of any ability level.
