We are licensed National Park hiking guides offering general day hikes, interpretive walks, and specialty outdoor education programs.
Although we specialize in large adventure travel and corporate groups (15-20), other smaller group specialty hikes can also be arranged with prior reservations. Other specialty guide and outdoor education services like photography workshops, flower walks, backcountry education hikes, and bear country basics are offered at various times throughout the summer season.
Tamarack Outdoor Outfitters is also the headquarters for exclusive hiker shuttle services that run daily throughout Waterton to most of the major trailheads.
The main shuttle offered is for a one way hike on the world famous Carthew-Alderson Summit Hike whose trailhead is located at Cameron Lake, 10 miles from Waterton village. The shuttle runs daily in peak season and rates vary. One to two day advance reservations are strongly recommended (seats are limited).
The Chief Mountain Shuttle takes hikers back to the U.S. Customs parking area at Chief Mountain, the traihead for Belly River / Elizabeth-Cosley Lakes, and Stony Indian Pass destinations in Glacier National Park. At Customs, you can connect with another shuttle that can take you to other Glacier Park trailhead / accomodation destinations. You can reserve these shuttles 2 months in advance.
The incredibly well stocked outdoor store (one of the premier independant outdoor stores in Canada!) is a must stop when in Waterton as it offers a large selection of apparel, footwear, and general outdoor accessories. Top brand names such as North Face, Patagonia, Columbia, Mountain Hardwear, Sierra Designs, Merrell, Salomon, Vasque and more are featured !! (the most brand names under one roof!)
