Sika Deer (Cervus Nippon)
Sika Deer are native to far East Asia.
The Sika Deer was first introuduced to the Czech Republic in the 19th century.
The stag is 90cm tall and weighs around 45Kg and the doe is around 75cm tall and weighs roughly 36Kg
The Sika's hair colour varies from chestnut brown with small white spots to dark grey depending on the season.
Only the stags have antlers, which are similar to that of the Red Deer. Sika shed their antlers in late spring.
Rutting takes place in October and November. The young fawns are born in May and June of the following year.
Hunting Sika Deer starts on the 1st of July and continues til the 15th of February.
