Roe Deer (Capreolus Capreolus)
Roe Deer are one of the most beautiful creatures of the European continent. Roe deer are native to Europe. They are fairly small animals with a reddish colour. The male is around 75cm tall and weight approximately 20Kgs, the female is 65cm tall at the shoulder and weights 18Kg.
Only the males have antlers which shed early in the winter. Rutting takes place in July and August. The fawns, usually twins, are born around May of the following year.
The Roe Deer hunting seasons are:
Buck - 16th May to 30th September
Dow & Fawn - 1st September to 31st December
The best times for hunting the bucks are August and September.
