Riverboarding requires endurance and excellent swimming ability. We spend each day learning basic down river techniques and wave surfing. We run the upper "chili bar" section which has some of the best surfing waves in the west. Our goal is to teach every participant how to surf the river. All trips include equipment, instruction and shuttle. Bring your own snacks and water. Plan to ride the river for at least 6 hours. All participants should be athletic and good swimmers in excellent physical shape. If you are not a good swimmer do not sign up for a riverboarding class! Minimum age - 18 years.
2006 River Flow Projections - updated 4/25/06:
The South Fork American River Get ready for an awesome year of rafting in 2006. The 2006 season will compare to the 1982-1983 season which had record amounts of runoff. Flows on the South Fork will be impressive in May and June. Higher than normal flows will last through the entire season. Peak flows should hit 10,000 cfs in late May. At these flows some rapids are class 4. Wetsuits will be required until at least July 4th weekend. This will be the best water year in 23 years so book your trip now!
High water - Now through late June.
Optimum flows will last through September.
The Middle Fork American: Good flows throughout the 2006 season. We will have flows every day during our season. Midweek flows will be ideal. Flows will be too high to raft until June. Season starts June 1, 2006. If high water continues into June all Middle Fork trips will be switched to Super American - full river- south fork american trips.
The North Fork Yuba River : The North Fork Yuba drainage has the biggest snowpack of almost every river in California. Flows on the North Yuba could last into late July! Season starts April 29 and goes through July, 2006. Book your trips in May if you want the big water flows that the Yuba is famous for. June will have plenty of good water all month and upper Yuba trips (wild plum, moss canyon) should be prime during this month.. Yuba watershed is almost 200% of normal.
The Stanislaus River Rafting: Goodwin Canyon : Too high until July 1, 2006. Flows are possible all summer. Contact us for more information
Lower Class 2 section-Season starts June 1, 2006 - Plentiful water throughout the summer.
