The Yuba River rafting scenery is tops with its lush forested banks and its whitewater is fantastic! The gold rush is still going strong on the Yuba and you’ll see it as you raft by gold miners in the canyon. Downieville is one of the best remaining active gold rush towns and is only a short drive from our base camp. Come see why so many paddlers consider the Yuba River a favorite whitewater destination in California.
1 Day Trip: The “Maytag” section of the Yuba River rafting trip is a classic springtime rafting experience. Check-in at our camp at 10:00 AM on the morning of your trip. You’ll be geared up and driven to put-in where our staff will give a safety orientation and paddling instruction. We’ll launch and run the upper section of whitewater including “Ramshorn” and “Gauge” rapids. We’ll stop for lunch at our base camp where a delicious buffet lunch will be served. After lunch we’ll head down the lower section of class 4 rapids including “Two Pair” and “Royal Flush”. We’ll pull over to scout the crux of the run “Maytag Rapid” an intense class 4+ cascade which everyone has the option to raft or to walk around. After this there’s “Son of Maytag” lurking around the next bend of the Yuba River. Take out is 2 miles downstream where our bus will meet us and drive us back to base camp. Plan to be back to your car by 4:30 P.M.
Super Maytag Trip: Add an upper section of class 4+ rapids ! We'll raft "Moss canyon" or "Rosasco Ravine" after the classic Maytag section for an adventure packed day of incredible whitewater. All Paddlers should have previous experience and be strong paddlers, agile in the raft and a good swimmer.
