Lightbulb How do I post images?

How do I post images?

Currently there are two ways of posting pictures:

1) One is by including the link to a picture on another web page (or one that's been uploaded to the InfoHub site using the software mentioned in the next post). This can be done by clicking the “Insert Image” icon (), which you can find between “Inserting Email Link” and the “#” sign on the formatting tool bar, right above the message box (See Picture 1 attached below). This way the browser will look for the picture on the web page specified and load it from there each time the forum thread is opened. The big advantage is that the size limit is much higher for this option, allowing you to post even huge photos. Also, this way the picture will be inserted right into the text, as is the InfoHub logo below:

2) The second way is by clicking on the “Manage Attachment” button in the menu below the text box (see Picture 2), and uploading the image files from your computer to the forum server (see Picture 3), which, however, imposes a size limit of 1 Mb on each picture, and automatically shrinks the longest side of the picture to 500 pixels, adjusting the other one proportionately. In this case the pictures will be displayed as thumbnails below the message (as you can see below), keeping the possibility to be viewed full-size in a new window, which opens when clicking on the thumbnails (practice by clicking on the pictures below).

Re: How do I post images?

Dear InfoHub Forum Members,

I would like to let you know that InfoHub Inc. has been generous enough to offer us some space on its server and a very user-friendly piece of software that will allow the forum members to upload images to the site of the company and then insert them right into the posts. All you have to do is go to the following address:

http://www.infohub.com/scripts/pictures_cgi/index.php

Log in as: user
Password: user

As soon as the file(s) has/have been uploaded, click on it/them to get the precise location link, which can further be used to include the image right into the text of your message, as mentioned above.
Enjoy discussing and sharing photos! ;)

Something most important is forgotten in this posting:

you should always reduce the volume of your photos (i.e. changing TIFF files to JPG, changing image size to "small") as all of this big photos severely set the answering time of the forum up - which means waiting for everybody.

Denis, you should provide a tool to check picture sizes, if you got one ...

Reinhard

Hi, Reinhard!

Thanks for the important question! I did presume the images would be mainly jpeg's and gif's. As a matter of fact, bmp's cannot be uploaded using the mentioned software at all! Neither can other uncommon or professional standards. The accepted files, however, are automatically shrunk to a reasonable size.

Denis.
