You are so wrong! It is not only the size that matters in evaluating the importance of a holy building. It is the outer and inner architecture, the things that are in them! I haven't seen Notre Dame with my own eyes, but from pictures I can tell that it is great due to it's architecture! If anyone here saw it, I would appreciate your help.

So "Size matters"....I guess most males claim that at least But to be serious for a second: I have visited lots of religious places around the world even if I'm not very religious. I don't think that the size is the most important factor...stuff like architecture, location, decorations etc are also important. But I have to admit that it is impressive to walk into St. Peters in Rome but it is also equally amazing to wander around Grand Palace in Rome. Sacré-Coeur in Paris is also beautiful. Last year I had the chance to see two of the most beautiful buildings in Europe, Mont St.Michelle in France and the Mesquita in Spain, Cordoba.

The Mesquita it's just amazing, huge and u can spend hours with ur nose up looing at the columns and domes and the unbelieveble decorations on the wall.
The odd mix of cristhian and muslim symbols make of it a unique building.
Mont St.Michelle is magic, not only the Monastery but the whole Island, or Peninsula depending from high or low tide.It seems to go back in time and with a bit of imagination u can hear the chorus singing vespers!
I've seen and really liked also Sacre Coeur-Paris, S.Sophia's Mosquee-Istanbul, St.Stephen Cathedral-Vienna, St.Vitus Cathedral-Prague and Sagrada Familia-Barcelona.
Despite the fact I was born only 70 km far from Milan I've never seen the whole Duomo coz everytime I went there there were work in progress and the building was only partially visible.
But it is beautiful!
In Italy there are a lot of beautiful buildings, very well known abroad, but u would be surprise if u go in Tuscany for example and find out how many fantastic building there are even in the smallest villages...and lot of people doesnt know them!

wow, that must be very interesting. I have heard of a lot of real masterpieces, in the countriside, and though the churches, buildings there absolutely marvelous, there hasn't been too much publicity and few people know about it. I think that maybe thru this kind of forums, people can find out more about some of them. So, it is all up to us as well

Alberto, do you have pics with the other churches you mentioned?

Unfortunately when I went to see many of that churches or buildings I ddnt have a digital camera but only an analogic one...maybe digital camera wasnt invented yet...

Anyway I have pics of Mont S.Michelle...

What a nice picture! The Sacre Coeur. Is it in France? Paris? Where exactly?
I have accesed the link you gave, and the pictures are very nice. The only thing I could understand since I speak no italian, not german. I saw a picture there like Isola di Giannutri, are they some kind of ruins???

Yes, I must agree with most of the users - St. Paul's is definitely a neat looking building, and the interior is just amazing and so peaceful.
I would love to visit it once again, sometime in the future.

I had never been there but I heard from one of my friend that St. Paul’s is a big cathedral. Size is an important consideration in religious architecture. There are churches everywhere, but not all of them are so beautiful and have so rich history, if you understand what I am saying.
