The mountain and mining town of Røros was founded on account of the copper mines in 1644. The mines were closed in 1977 after 333 years of mining, but Røros still is a thriving community where a rich culture and traditions are kept alive. The old timber buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries have been restored and the narrow streets take you back to another time.
