| The Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge Act was established in 1976 as a result of environmental activism. This Act preserves the Lower Minnesota River Valley's natural resources. It is also responsible for developing recreational activities and a Wildlife Interpretation and Education Center in the area. Currently, the refuge, located in central Minnesota, near Bloomington, includes 10,000 acres of land and there are plans to add another 5,000 acres. |
