Lake Chad is the fourth largest lake in Africa and is located in the Sahel zone of west-central Africa between Chad, Cameroon, Nigeria, and Niger. The surface area of the lake depends on the water level. The Lake Chad region is known for it's important role in trans-Saharan trade and for the various important archaeological discoveries that have been made here.
