| Standing on the peaceful banks of the beautiful River Wye, Hereford Cathedral, in Hereford, West Midlands, England, occupies a site used for worship since Saxon times. The cathedral contains some of the finest examples of architecture from Norman times up to the present day, including the beautifully restored Shrine of St. Thomas of Hereford in the North Transept, the exquisite Early English Lady Chapel and the 'high-tech Medieval' New Library Building completed in 1996. Hereford Cathedral houses the largest pre 15th Century map in the world – the Mappa Mundi. |
