| Central Park is a 90-hectare urban park west of Metrotown, on the Vancouver-Burnaby border. It has been a Burnaby landmark since 1891. According to The Greater Vancouver Book 1, it was once a naval reserve set aside as a source of masts and spars for ships of the Royal Navy. The park was named to honor Mrs. David Oppenheimer, the wife of Vancouver's second mayor, who was born in New York City. |
