This is an easy paced nature trip, which is suitable for all ages. Our 4WD safaris will give you the opportunity to view Sri Lanka's famed wildlife - especially the wild elephants, which roam in large herds. The dramatic change in climate & vegetation could be seen, on your descent to the South-west coast. You will be shown a turtle hatchery, turtle eggs are incubated & little turtles released to the ocean once hatched. You can relax on the beach.
Your Itinerary
Day 1: You will be met on arrival at airport or picked up from hotel from Colombo & taken to the Muthurajawela Marsh for a boat ride. The boat ride in this extensive area of wetland is an amazing experience! The trained guides will talk you through the flora & fauna and the history of the marshes. Overnight at the hotel in Negombo area.

Day 2: Leave for Kandy, visiting the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage En-route. A sightseeing tour of Kandy will be done in the afternoon. You will be taken to the Temple of the Tooth Relic & Royal Botanical Gardens. Dinner & Overnight at the hotel in Kandy.

Day 3: This day will be an uphill climb towards the cool misty mountains. Take a break at Nuwara Eliya located 1889 meters in elevation. It still retains strong traces of its British influences in the style of buildings & lifestyles. Proceed to Ella, which is famous for some of the best views you could experience in this country. Experience the world suddenly drop away at your feet at Ell Gap. On a clear day you could see the coastal plains 1100-m below. Dinner & Overnight at a hotel in Ella.

Day 4: You could take an (optional) 2-hour hiking trip of Ella, before proceeding to Embilipitiya for lunch. The Jeep (4WD) safari of the game park will be in the afternoon, at which time the animals come out to the watering holes. Herds of elephant can be seen along the river during the dry season, which is usually between May & September.
There is also a "tree hut" in the vicinity of the campsite of Pansadara, a fine place to observe these elephants. Almost the entire park is covered with tall, reedy grass, which grows all year round, except during the months of June and October. Dinner & Overnight at a hotel in Embilipitiya/ Hambantota area.

Day 5: Travel to Tissamaharama or 'Tissa' for short - for lunch. Tissa will be used as a base for the half-day jeep (4WD) safari of Yala National Park.
This is the best park in the island for viewing mammals. The park has large open grassy plains where game could be watched at ease, and numerous water holes along the tracks, which are of easy access. Elephant, Spotted & barking Deer, Sambar, Grey Langur, Toque Monkey, etc could be spotted with ease. The safari will end in the evening. You will be taken to hotel in Tissa/ Hambantota area for Dinner & Overnight.

You will be shown a turtle hatchery, turtle eggs are incubated & little turtles released to the ocean once hatched. You can relax on the beach this afternoon. Dinner & Overnight at the hotel in Beruwela.
