The culinary trip is organised in association with Malcolm Duck at Le Marche Noir and although entirely dependent upon each individual guest, the following offers a flavour of the service we provide.
Your Itinerary
Day 1:
Greeted at any Scottish Airport by the Fish Out of Water team and conveyed by Range Rover into Edinburgh to the elegant Georgian New Town retreat of the Howard Hotel.
The Royal Yacht Britannia is the venue for the welcome dinner - a celebration of the Auld Alliance between France and Scotland with the most exquisite Scottish cuisine complemented by the finest French wines. Scottish restaurateurs together with the owners and representatives of the French wine and champagne houses will attend the gala dinner. (B) (L) (D)
Day 2:
This morning, in common with the rest of the tour, the day will begin with a traditional Scottish breakfast of local fare such as smoked salmon, Loch Fyne kippers and oatcakes. There will be a guided tour of Edinburgh, conveyed by Range Rover visiting the New Town, the Old Town, Holyrood, Arthur’s seat and the Castle.
One of the oldest independent jewellers in Scotland will be the host for a champagne lunch with a chance to visit the workshop and browse through the silverware, gold and unusual gems.
The owner of Le Marche Noir, Malcolm Duck will host a wine tasting followed by dinner in his restaurant to sample the vast array of French wines. (B) (L) (D)
Day 3:
The expedition out of Edinburgh will include the Trossachs, Glen Coe en route to Ballachulish, Fort Augustus and Drumnadrochit on Loch Ness. A lunchtime cruise on Loch Ness in the company of a Loch veteran and storyteller should satisfy even the least curious that something lurks below the Loch. (St. Columba first recorded a sighting in 600 AD when crossing the Loch to introduce Christianity to the Picts - a brave man!) (B) (L) (D)
Days 4-6:
The next venue is in the very heart of the Highlands at Tressady Lodge, in Sutherland an imposing but most welcoming Highland shooting lodge, Built by the Duke of Sutherland in the 1870’s, it stands in it’s own 20,000 acre estate. For the next three days this will be the base for our guests, enjoying exceptional food from our master chefs accompanied by fine wines and malt whiskies.
Days may be spent, golfing, shooting, fishing, walking, picnicking, or simply shopping for cashmere, tweeds, tartans and antiques.
One evening will be spent at a nearby Castle with dinner hosted by the aristocratic owner. Days may be spent at a local distillery where the art of whisky making can be explored or for the more adventurous a trip to Orkney or Skye can be arranged. (B) (L) (D)
Day 7:
Heading south once more, David Wilson, owner of the Peat Inn will be our host for a gourmet lunch in this historic coaching inn in central Fife. To end our connoisseur’s expedition we could arrange lunch in Champagne and dinner in Burgundy before a farewell ceilidh in Edinburgh to end the perfect trip! (B) (L) (D)
