Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Bamako. Meeting and assistance at the airport. Transfer to hotel Salam Hotel 5***** or similar. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Bamako. Visit of Bamako: national museum, Medine market. Lunch at restaurant San Toro. Visit of handcraft market. Dinner and overnight at hôtel Salam****.
Day 3: Bamako – Timbuktu
Early morning flight to Timbuktu. We visit in Timbuktu with the Djingareiber mosque, then we continue towards the Sidi Yahiya mosque, then Sankoré mosque. We will discover some of the houses of western explorers, such as René Caillé, Gordon Laing and Heinrich Barth. Lunch in route. In the afternoon, we visit the museum of Tuareg and Songhai traditions. Check in Hotel Hendricka Khan 2** or similar. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4: In Timbuktu we will visit Ahmad Baba Centre for Islamic archives. In the afternoon, camel ride to go and visit a Tuareg encampment. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Timbuktu – Mopti
Breakfast, then flight to Mopti. Lunch in Mopti. After lunch, visit the Komoguel mosque, the docks and the workshops of making boats, the harbour and the market. Check in Hotel Ambédjélé 3*** or similar. Dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Mopti – Djenné – Mopti. Breakfast and depart towards Djenné. Lunch in town. We continue our exploration of Djenné in the afternoon visiting the Grand Mosque and the market. Late afternoon, back to Mopti. Dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Mopti – Songho – Sangha –Banani - Mopti (Dogon land)
After breakfast, we board the 4WD and start our excursion to the Dogon land, starting with the village of Songho. Continue to Sangha. Check in hotel campement of Sangha where we will have lunch. Then we will visit the 2 sections of Upper Ogol and Lower Ogol. We will attend a dogon danse mask. Then, we will drive to Banani village, one among hundreds of vertical Dogon villages. Back to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Mopti - Niger cruise – Mopti
Early in the morning, back to Mopti. Today, we cruise the Niger during the whole day, stopping at several bozo villages, such as Kotaka, Saya and Barkoundaga. We will picnic and continue discovering the various villages. Check in in hotel Ambedjele at the end of the day. Dinner and overnight.
Day 9 : Mopti – Ségou. We depart towards Ségou. Check in hotel. Lunch and then attend the Festival of the Niger. Back to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Ségou. Full day at the Festival, attending concerts and shows.
Day 11: Ségou. In the morning, take a boat cruise and visit Kalabougou (a pottery village, on the other side of the river), then back for lunch. In the afternoon, attend the Festival. Dinner and overnight.
Day 12 : Ségou - Bamako
Drive in the morning to Bamako. Lunch in town, then check in Hotel Salam for day-use. Spend the remainder of the day at leisure, either strolling in the market place of Bamako, or enjoy the pool at the hotel. Early evening transfer to the airport to catch up the flight.
