After pick up from the hotel we head for the ferry terminal in Banjul. To catch up the ferry that will take us to the northern part of the River Gambia.
After getting off the ferry we drive towards Kuntaur where we are to begin the river trip. But on the way we have our continental morning bush breakfast (included in the price). From here we drive to Kuntaur and upon arrival there we will have a glimpse of the village and the possibility of sighting the rice mill since rice is the staple food of this country and also how the local people make furniture’s out of river bamboo trees.
At 13.00 hrs we are set for the trip, and the boat we will using is called a pirogue. (A typical African boat made of mahogany and mango tree) Once on board this pirogue, a delicious lunch is served(incl in the price) and after the meal we start searching for the hippos, Nile crocodiles, baboons, and birds.
On this river trip we will be sailing pass a rehabilitation park called the Baboon island national park which is located in the middle of the river. Here is where chimps are rehabilitated. After about 41/2 hours on the river we arrive in Jangjangbureh camp in Georgetown, Where we shall overnight and eventually there will be African entertainment after dinner. Early in the morning after breakfast is served, (incl in the price) we set for the Stone Circles in Wassu featured on the 50 dalasi note, and these interesting stones have been in existence since the 13th century. Thereafter on the way we stop for a sandwich lunch before heading for the ferry terminal and back to the hotel.
This excursion starts on Sundays 06.20 hrs and back by Monday afternoon 17.00 hrs.
