Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Airport – Bishkek (25 km)
Arrival in Bishkek and meeting at "Manas" airport. Transfer to Bishkek city (30 km) and accommodating guest house (not far from the center of the city). After rest-time going sightseeing around the city. Visiting museums, Central Square, shops and others.
Day 2: Bishkek – Karakol (400 km)
Transfer from Bishkek to Karakol city (400 km) along the North Shore of Issyk-Kul Lake.On the road to Karakol we will visit historical monument Burana tower and a museum near by it. In Cholpon-Ata city we will also visit open air petroglyphs museum.
Accommodation in guest house in Karakol city.
Day 3: Karakol – Ichkili-Tash - Beginning of the trek (150 km)
The road to Ichkili-Tash goes along the slopes of Turgen Ak-Suu gorge. In the upper reaches of Turgen Ak-Suu we will see quiet big and beautiful mountain valley which is surrounded by high hills. This view is very typical for Terskey Ala-Too gorges. Further the road goes over the Chon-Ashuu pass (3822m) – from Kyrgyz language its name means “Big pass”. We can stay for a while at the pass and watch the beautiful view. Then the road goes along the Ottuk gorge and driving along the old road we get to Sary-Dzaz gorge. In about 2 hours we get to Ichkili-Tash. Here trekking starts. We will hike up the Tjuz gorge about 1 hour. Overnight in tents (altitude is 3000m).
Day 4: Trekking
Hike along Tjuz river (5-6 hours). It is not difficult passage, with not big and smooth rise. On the way we are wading Tjuz river in a shallow place. Overnight in tents on a glade not far from small stream with crystal clear water (altitude is 3300m).
Day 5: Tjuz river - Tjuz pass foot
Hike to the Tjuz pass foot (4-5 hours). The path goes along the main gorge as previous day (2-3 hours of walking) but then turns to the right tributary and becomes steeper. Night in tents near by the big rock cracked in the middle (altitude is 3600m).
Day 6: Tjuz pass - Inylchek gorge - Chon-Tash
Ascent to the pass Tjuz (4001m) and descent to Inylchek gorge. Ascent to the pass is not difficult technically and takes about 2-3 hours. From the pass there is a good view to the whole Inylchek glacier, Nansen peak (5697m) and Pobeda peak (7439m). On the pass having a lunch and then descent to the bottom of Inylchek gorge (2-3 hours). Staying at a place, named "Chon-Tash", which means "Big Stone" – memorial of many mountaineers. Overnight in tents (altitude is 2800m).
Day 7: Trekking along Inylchek gorge
Hike across the glacier to its left side (2-3 hours) and then along slopes and moraines (2-3hours) to the "clay place" – small spot, for making a camp, among huge slopes of Inylchek gorge. Overnight in tents (altitude is 3200m).
Day 8: Trekking to the Merzbacher glade
Trekking along the left side of the glacier to the Merzbacher glade, which is against the Lake of the same name. Very easy hiking, as it takes only 2-3 hours. After lunch in camp, it is possible to go on a short hike further along the glacier. Otherwise taking a rest on the beautiful green glade. Overnight in tents (altitude is 3500m).
Day 9: Trekking to Merzbacher Lake
Hiking across the South Inylchek glacier to Merzbacher Lake. Where the North Inylchek glacier flows together with the South Inylchek glacier. After lunch return to the camp on Merzbacher glade. Overnight in tents (altitude is 3500m).
Day 10: Merzbacher Lake - footstep of Nansen peak
Trekking back along the Inylchek gorge to the footstep of Nansen peak (5-6 hours). Overnight in tents (altitude is 2800m).
Day 11: Footstep of Nansen peak - At-Djailoo -Karakol
Hike to the At-Djailoo mountaineering camp (4-5 hours) and then transfer to Karakol over Chon-Ashuu pass. Accommodating in inexpensive guesthouse.
Day 12: Karakol – Tamga
Transfer to Tamga village (90 km), on the South shore of Issyk-Kul Lake. On the way to Tamga you will visit Dzety-Oguz gorge. This gorge is known by red rocks of sandstone that are called - "Seven Bulls." This name they received under the old Kyrgyz legend of cruel khans and their love to the beautiful girl. Accommodating in Tamga guest house.
Day 13: Tamga – Barskoon gorge – Tamga (50 km)
Taking a rest after long and exciting travel. Swimming in Issyk-Kul Lake and acquiring a tan under the sun's pleasing warmth. Excursion to Barskoon gorge and easy hiking to Barskaun waterfall. Back to Tamga.
Day 14: Tamga - Bishkek (320 km)
Transfer to Bishkek city (320 km). Accommodating in inexpensive convenient guesthouse (not far from the center of the city).
Day 15: Transfer to Airport (30 km) and flight home.
