The Golden Ring of Russia (the region southeast of Moscow) is the most famous tourist route in the heart of Russia. It goes through the old Russian towns: Vladimir, Suzdal, Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Uglich and others known for their ancient history and architecture. You will see the beautiful Russian countryside and the Volga river, magnificent orthodox churches and monasteries. The bicycling part starts in Pereslavl-Zalessky (150 km to north of Moscow) and ends in Vladimir 11 days later.

On the route you can choose your own cycling pace, a car will wait for you at the appointed places along the route. Experienced guides will look after you in case of difficulties. If you are tired you can always take a car for some part of the route. Even non-riding spouses, children or friends are welcome to the tour and they can follow us with the car. All roads along the route do not have heavy traffic and are covered with asphalt except for 2-3 short gravel and ground roads (about 10 km each).

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Moscow You are met at the airport by a guide and taken to the hotel. Free time.

Day 2: Moscow Guided city tour in Moscow including Arbat street, Red square, the Kremlin, Metro. After the city tour we have a boat trip on the Moscow river. Meeting with local cyclists and tour presentation in the evening (optional).

Day 3: Pereslavl-Zalessky Transfer to Pereslavl-Zalessky. City tour in Sergiev Posad, visiting the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius monastery (optional). City tour in Pereslavl-Zalessky by bikes, including the Goritsky monastery, Red Square, the Cathedral of Transfiguration of the Saviour, the Pleshcheevo Lake national park, the Boat of Peter the Great museum. Then we cycle to the hotel (15 mi) located near the lake. Boat fishing (optional).

Day 4: Cycle to Uglich Cycle to Uglich (75 mi). We visit the Pereslavl Narrow-Gauge Railway Museum (optional), school, and the old believers Nickolas-Uleima Monastery. We stay in the hotel in the center of Uglich.

Day 5: Uglich City tour in Uglich including the Kremlin, the Volga embankment, the Bell museum, the museum of Russian vodka, the Prison museum (optional). You can taste banya (Russian sauna). Picnic on the Volga bank and meeting with the local bicycle club members in the evening (optional).

Day 6: Cycle to Myshkin Cycle to Myshkin (40 mi). City tour including the Mouse museum, the Valenki museum, the Ethnographic Museum, the Folk Handicraft museum. Then we cycle to the hotel (5 mi) located near the Volga river. Swimming in the Volga and fishing (optional).

Day 7: Cycle to Yaroslavl Cycle to Yaroslavl (70 mi). We visit the space museum. We stay in the hotel in the center of Yaroslavl.

Day 8: Yaroslavl City tour in Yaroslavl including Yaroslavl State Historical-and-Architectural Art Museum-Preserve, the Spassky monastery, the Volga embankment, the "Time and Music" museum (optional), the Icon museum (optional), boat trip.Free time in the evening.

Day 9: Cycle to Kostroma Cycle to Kostroma (50 mi). Banya (optional), boat trip (optional). Overnight in the hotel in the center of Kostroma.

Day 10: Cycle to Ples City tour including the Outdoor museum of Wooden Architecture & Peasant Life, the Ipatjev monastery (optional). Cycle to Ples (45 mi). Overnight in the hotel near the Volga. Swimming in the Volga.

Day 11: Cycle to Malinki We visit the museum of Russian artist Levitan, the folklore program “Russian house”. Cycle to Malinki (50 mi). Overnight in the camping.

Day 12: Cycle to Suzdal Cycle to Suzdal (55 mi). Picnic at Rubskoe lake (optional). Farewell Dinner, overnight in the hotel in Suzdal.

Day 13: Cycle to Vladimir City tour including the Spaso-Ephimy monastery (the bell ring, choir, the Stalin prison museum), the Kremlin, the Outdoor Museum of Wooden Architecture & Peasant Life (optional). Cycle to Vladimir (25 mi). The Church of Intercession on the Nerl (optional). The last shot near the Golden Gate. Transfer to Moscow. Overnight in the hotel in Moscow.

Day 14: Departure Transfer to airport.
