Like all our tours, this one starts in Varmahlið, from where we take the participants up into Austurdalur valley, about one hour drive. After a safety talk by the guides, we set off on an adventurous ride down the canyon, and tackle such rapids as "The lost of screaming lady" and the "Green Room", before paddling out into the calmer waters of the Heraðsvotn river. There, you can swim in the river and enjoy the Icelandic glacial water!
All groups on the East River tours are accompanied by one or two safety kayakers, who will assure the safety of the passengers.
Duration: 6 - 7 hours
Distance paddled: 16 km
Classification of the tour: Class III-IV+. Difficult to very Difficult long turbulent rapids with powerful waves and holes, many obstacles requiring precise maneuvering in turbulent water. Strong waves, boiling eddies,dangerous rocks and hydraulics.
Group Size: Minimum 4-6 and up to about 45 participants. Suitable for persons 18 years and older, if children are accompanied by their parents also younger.
