Mongolia, the ancient realm of Gengis Khan, has emerged from the shadows of communism and is now open to the world.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Moscow

Flights are met at Moscow airport and guests are transferred to the five-star Baltschug Kempinski Hotel, which overlooks the Kremlin, for a one night stay. Reception and welcome dinner.

Day 2: Moscow

A full day touring Moscow including Red Square and the Kremlin. We board our awaiting Trans - Siberian Express private train for an evening departure.

Day 3: Kazan

We spend the day in Kazan, the beautiful capital of Tatarstan on Volga river.

Day 4: Yekaterinburg

We cross from Europe into Asia prior to our arrival in Yekaterinburg, the capital of the Urals. Home of the exiled Romanovs, today’s tour includes a visit to the execution site and a tour of the Urals Mineralogical Museum.

Day 5: Novosibirsk

We stopover in Novosibirsk where we visit the Opera House, Lenin Square and the Ob River, which flows 3,500 miles from its source to the Arctic.

Day 6: Abakan

Heading west through the beautiful landscape of the Sayan Mountains, stopping in Abakan. You have a full day on the train to enjoy the relaxed pace of life on our 'hotel on wheels'.

Day 7: Irkutsk

Morning arrival in Irkutsk, known as the ‘Paris of Siberia,’and for its wooden architecture. Our city tour takes in the major attractions. Free time in the afternoon to explore the local market.

Day 8: Lake Baikal

A spectacular part of the journey, today is spent winding our way through tunnels and cliffs along the edge of the world’s largest freshwater lake, Lake Baikal. We stop enroute for a barbeque at the lake’s edge and continue on to the village of Listvyanka, where our tour includes the Limnological Institute.

Day 9: Ulan Ude

Morning arrival in Ulan Ude, capital of the Buryat Republic. Our tour includes the colourful Buddhist Temple in nearby Ivolginsk and a trip to the Village of Old Believers.

Day 10: Ulaan Baatar

Morning arrival in the capital of Mongolia, Ulaan Baatar. We visit the Gandam Monastery before we transfer to our hotel for a three-night stay. Free time to explore this bustling centre of activity, as the Mongols prepare for their country’s big day. The option of a trip to the nearby Gorkhi-Terelj National Park is available.

Day 11: Ulaan Baatar

Full day in Ulaan Baatar for the celebrated Naadam Festival. An important event for the Mongolians, this day is the major holiday in their annual calendar. A festive atmosphere pervades the capital as wishes of ‘Happy Naadam’ are exchanged amongst friends. Events featured today include the Opening Ceremony, archery and the 33-km horse race.

Day 12: Ulaan Baatar

A half day at the Naadam Festival which includes wrestling and the Closing Ceremony. Options include a city tour which features the various Monasteries and the National Museum or Natural History Museum.

Day 13: Ulaan Baatar

Breakfast in the hotel with transfers to Ulaan Baatar airport for flight departures.
