Negotiate your way down steep canyons by abseiling and jumping waterfalls and cliffs, cascading down natural chutes and swimming through crystal clear pools. 80% of the time is spent in the water. The canyoning season starts in Golden Week and continues through to late October.
Canyons offers a wide range of courses to suit all customer skill and thrill levels. You can make a preference for the course you wish to participate on, or leave it up to our professional guides to take you on the course with the best conditions on the day.
Canyons uses only the best quality gear imported from around the world, to ensure supreme comfort and safety. Even on cold days you will be snug under 10mm of wetsui. All you need is a towel, your swimwear and a sense of adventure!
Fox Canyon:
It is the most popular canyon with customers. Easy access and amazing features at all water levels. Canyons is the only company running this course. Season: late April - late October.
Nosehair Falls:
Nosehair Falls course is great at high water. A bit of a walk, but well worth it. At low water it is ideal for those who do not want big thrills. This is a combined shower climb and canyon. Conditions: Age 8 or above, with reasonable fitness. Season: late May - late October.
Heaven:
Heaven is a very picturesque course. Good for small groups but a lot shorter compared to the other canyons. Conditions: Age 13 or above, with reasonable fitness. Season: late May - late October.
Maple Canyon:
Maple Canyon is an amazingly sceneic canyon set high in the mountains above Minakami. Plenty of great sliders and small waterfall drops. Conditions: age 8 or above, with reasonable fitness. Season: mid June - late October.
Deer Canyon:
Deer Canyon is an incredibly beautiful canyon with some great features and big waterfalls. A virgin canyon that has rarely been seen by humans. Conditions: late May - early October.
Kamoshika Canyon:
Kamoshika Canyon can be run a few different ways;
-shower climb up and canyon down (great for kids and families)
-drive to the top and canyon down from the top section. More waterfalls and big thrills!
